GRADUATE TEACHER PROGRAMME
Teacher Training via the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP)
I began my GTP in February 2005 at a Suffolk High School. I really enjoyed my training year and felt supported by the school and the course.
I found learning within the school setting was very rewarding and the pace of progression was such that I gained in confidence as each week passed.
The GTP has built the foundations which have enabled me to become an effective teacher who loves his job, I feel pleased that I chose this route and I have now begun to see the benefits of a comprehensive training package.
During my NQT year with a strong foothold already gained in the school. I was able to develop my role still further, organising Activities week and giving a PD day presentation to the whole staff.
For me the GTP year has proved to be the gateway to lifelong learning. Whilst continuing to develop my own teaching skills, I have been appointed to a senior leadership post within my school and have become heavily involved in providing training and support for current GTP trainees. I am pleased to recommend the GTP to anyone who is seeking a high quality of teacher training with the opportunity to take increasing responsibility for his or her own professional development.
